First Week Work!

I don’t know about you, but I was done for at the end of this first week of school! I was just amazed at how the human body can keep going, and then completely crash the moment I came home!
This year our counselor’s are going to talk to our kiddos about how important it is to be bucket-fillers, instead of bucket-dippers. It is a great idea to go along with the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. I found this great idea on Pinterest, and it used a book about bucket-filling that was different from the one that they are going to use. I figured the earlier we start out on that path the better!
First, we read Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. My kids really loved it!
Next, we talked sorted behaviors that were true to bucket fillers, and those that were true for bucket dippers. I was impressed with how quickly they understood and applied the concept!

As you can see in the picture below, I left the bottom part empty. As we progress in the year, and as we begin to learn about the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, we are going to add more ideas to it. This way, it will become an anchor chart that is active.
We also hung this up in our room, as a reminder when we come and go!
Here is a review of some first week activities that we did. (Someone remind me to take the date stamp off of my camera, lol!!)
We did a kindergarten survey, about how they felt to be starting kindergarten.
This student feels much better now, and is even learning to write her name!!

We also did some Kissing Hand activities.
I know we’ve seen these frames all over Pinterest, and I just didn’t have time to make one. Luckily, I have a friend who made one, and she was gracious enough to let me borrow hers!! Yay!!
That’s all for now, talk to you later!
